Space Goats
I got two bits of excellent news yesterday. Excellent for me at least.
I’ll start with the one that has some bearing on you guys too. If you like the goats at least. Yesterday Per told me that the playground will be keeping one of the goat boys this year. A very nice surprise. I was excpecting that I’d have to say goodbye to all five of them. But Magnethe’s all-dark boy will stay. I have called him Mio before, but now I’m actually suspecting that Mio is actually a name that has been given to Snow White. So I’m going to have to investigate and find out what’s going on there. But whether his name is Mio or not, he certainly is a pretty little thing. Beautiful in fact. I can’t wait to see what he will look like when he’s all grown up. And he will be the first adult male goat on permanent stay at the playground since Mads’ passing. I have no doubt he will take charge of everything. He is the biggest and most confident of all the kids. He’s got that swagger already… I don’t think Magnethe is going to be able to keep him in check when he gets big, even if she is his mama. I think he will make a fine leader of the herd.
I’m not surprised that they would pick him to stay, since his colouring is so beautiful and he’s so self-assured. A real strong personality. Of course, I personally would have really liked to keep Bandit. Because Bandit is such a little sweet guy. And his bandit mask still makes me smile. He’s the smallest of them all but he has a great heart. And he doesn’t back down to anyone. Even Mio can’t bully him around. I can’t deny Bandit is my favourite of the bunch. I’m also very fond of Magnethe’s brown-headed boy, because he’s so cuddly and friendly. He’s still the one who likes human contact the most. Always the first to seek me out and climb up on me. Looking for treats and scratches and attention. They are all sweet and wonderful and I will miss the ones who have to go. But it will be great to keep Mio. He will have to be castrated of course. But I’m sure he’ll have a strong alpha-male mindset nonetheless.
A video from yesterday: youtube.com/watch?v=lT7JDwRbHfs. You can see Bandit and Mio going at it for quite a while. And the goat boys all go troublemaking up in the residential block. I tried to get them to come down with me, but I could only pick one up and carry, and the rest didn’t want to follow me. A little later Per and (plus a resident who had gone to warn them that the goats were astray) went up and chased the boys down. In the video you can see them all sprinting down the hill. Good times.
The second bit of good news is that I’m getting myself a new computer. I have ordered and paid for it. It should be here within the week.
I can’t remember if I blogged about it, but I recently decided that I wanted a new computer. And my first plan was to get it at the end of the year. Then I reconsidered and figured I’d get it in a couple of months. And then I made the mistake of going to the website and looking at what they had on offer. And of course I ended up not being able to resist ít and just getting it right now. It took some time emailing the store and getting things just right, but now it should be on its way. A right beast of a machine. Much too expensive and powerful for my needs. But I’m not going to feel guilty about that. I wanted it and I’m getting it. End of discussion. As I wrote on facebook, I consider it a treat that I deserve. After 2-3 years of a downwards spiral into almost blindness. I deserve to treat myself to something nice. A shiny new, exciting toy. All that time in hospitals and worrying and pain and fear. Things have been stable for a while and hopefully all that horrible business is over. And now I want some fun. And I am quite excited. I can’t wait for it to get here. It’s going to be quite spectacular. I have started making preparations. I need to organize things and redownload programs and find x64bit versions and whatnut. My fingers are itching to go. 16 gigabytes of RAM! That’s more memory than I have in my brain. That computer is going to be able to remember all the things I always forget. If I find some way to attach it to my body then I might just use it to replace my head and get it over with.
Now all I need is the summer to come back and then I’ll be set.

Hay, Hay! That’s great they are keeping one of the goat kids. He will be a good addition to the playground.
Congrats on getting a new computer. That will keep you busy for awhile, I’m sure. I don’t like getting new stuff like a computer. I get so used to using the old one, I find it hard to change.

Debster – He’s going to be a beautiful, big guy!
The new computer is up and running. I know what you mean, though. There’s lots of new stuff to deal with now. I’m doing my best to get it to work as much as possible like my old computer, haha.
