Soft Ice Cream

Good news and bad news today.

I went over to my parents’ place this morning. To set up the new old computer and get it all working. Only to find that I needed driver CDs for the motherboard and ethernet and such. So I had to go all the way home and then back again with the CDs. Only to find that those CDs were for my other old computer. I don’t know where the CDs for the computer I have given my parents are. Oops. So I had no drivers for the computer. Bad news. I’m going to have to see if I can find them online. Right now they have no internet access and no sound. Damn. I thought I had prepared so well for the move. And then it all blows up in my face. Oh well. Hopefully I can get it sorted in a couple of days. Otherwise… the hamster will have to get back to work.

After messing about with the computers and running for CDs I went up to the playground to see the goats. Magnethe and Mio were alone in the fold and for a second again I thought “oh no, are the boys gone now?”. But the boys weren’t gone, they had just managed to circumvent my fence repairs. They are hard to hold in.

But I got a nice surprise. Kurt was there. Good old Kurt. I can’t remember the last time I saw him. It must be years. So it was really nice to get to say hello to him. He looked well. And I finally, finally got news about Vanilje’s kid. It’s more than a year since Vanilje passed away and her little girl went to stay with Kurt. I still vividly remember sitting in the hay with the baby, fortunately at that point too blind to see Vanilje lying nearby. And the little kid very hungry trying to latch on to anything to drink. Nibbling at my nose. Alice tried to get her to drink from a bottle but she wouldn’t have that. Until I finally managed to get her to take the bottle and she gulped it all down. I have been dying to find out what happened to her, but Kurt retired of course and whenever I asked people at the playground they said they hadn’t been in touch with him. But now I finally got to ask him how it all turned out. And I was so glad to find out that Vanilje’s girl is still at his place and doing very well. She is called Soft Ice. Kurt couldn’t put her with the other goats there (they aren’t as well behaved as playground goats) so she was put with the sheep instead. Today the goats and sheep are all together in one group, but Kurt said that Soft Ice sticks mostly with the sheep. He said she might not be completely aware of whether she’s a goat or a sheep. A cute little sheep-goat. I am just so happy that she’s okay and that there’s still a bit of Vanilje going around. I hope maybe I can get to see her some day. I imagine she must look just like Vanilje. She certainly looked a lot like her mother as a kid.

I was also told that Kurt will be taking one of the current boys. So that’s really good too. That means at least one of them will have a really good new home. I hope they’ll all find good homes. I don’t know which boy he’ll be taking. I’m going to cross my fingers for Bandit. It would be nice to have Bandit and Soft Ice playing together at Kurt’s.

I would like that very much.

Way less interesting than persay… how you’re dealing with this pesky Windows 7 Business.

Katt – maybe I’ll put in some fancy scripts

Would that be a “geep” then? Am I a goat or am I a sheep? Does my tail stay up or hang down?

Nice you were able to see Kurt and find out about “Soft Ice”. I always wonder what happens next when the babies leave for other pastures.

It was a hummingbird feeding frenzy! Stay out of the yard? No, we added our third feeder for the little devils. They sure have me trained to feed them on demand. hee, hee I counted at least 12 of them this week.

    Or soap?

I’m so glad Soft Ice is well! I remember her. :)

I’m also well. Kinda. Sort of. But Adam’s farfar died on Friday. And no one bothered telling Adam that he was poorly in hospital for 4 weeks! So, he never even got a chance to ring, send a card or even visit! They’re the weirdest effing family I’ve ever some across. I’m so sad that my little Arthur will never get to meet the ma after whom he was named. So sad.

Anyways, tomorrow, I’m having my wound re-dressed, and I’m not looking forward to that. It’s so effing painful. In prepapration, I might remove the hospital superglue plaster from my pubic hair myself this time!

Have a lovely week and hope you get the computer sorted. Imagine this; we bought a brand new harddrive a couple of days before I had my original operation and it’s still sitting untouched, unopened in its box! We’ve not had time to set it up!

    Hugs. x

Desiree: I like the “soap” mixture! hee, hee Soft Ice is a cute name for a goatzie. You sound like you’ve been having the worst luck and not feeling well. Hope your visit back to the hospital goes well. Good luck with removing that super glue! You make me laugh with the things you say.

Plume: did you know hummingbirds have scratchy little toenails? I stood next to the bird feeder for an hour on Sunday trying to get them to take sugar water from a cup I was holding.

The hummers did eventually manage to use my finger as a perch and I was able to lightly touch a tail feather. They are sure beautiful little birds. You can call me “The Hummingbird Whisperer” now. hee, hee

Debster – That is a good question! I like soap too hehe. I hope her tail is up and happy. I am relieved that she is doing well. I have to get to Kurt’s some time and see his animals. Not lest now.
I wonder if he has any hummingbirds?! Otherwise it sounds like you may have a few to spare. I am sure they are quite lovely. You’re lucky that you can get so close to them. Must be some experience. Wonder if I can get Magnethe to perch on my finger?! Probably not a good idea. She has in fact a couple of times lately stepped up on my leg as was sitting down. She’s a leeeettle too heave for that. I have to push her off when she does it, but it also makes me laugh. Good thing she knows she’s not a little kid anymore, if she tried climbing all over me I might need to go to the hospital…

Desiree – Soap! That’s excellent. I guess its’ better than “fed”. Får´+ged. Oh dear.
Glad you’re doing better. A little at least. Hopefully you’re on the right track. Sorry to hear about Adam’s farfar. That’s very odd that they wouldn’t tell him yes. Hope Adam is doing okay. It seems like everyone I know could use a vacation from things, including myself. I’m sure Arthur will be a proud bearer of the name for a long and happy time.
