Saying Goodbye is hard

It’s been a rather beautiful week. Very warm and sunny. The summer has taken hold. Hopefully it will stay a while. Just a little.

It posed me with a little dilemma, as I posted on Facebook. Do I spend my time mostly exercising, which is more effective when it is this warm. Or do I spend my time with the goats, which is always really enjoyable when it’s warm and sunny. I figured it would be a compromise, because even though I really wanted to make a big effort with the exercising the goats are just too important to me to stay away. So a little less exercise than I had wanted. And it turned out to be a full week of goat times. I went every day, which doesn’t happen often. Usually I’ll take at least one day off during the week. But I had to enjoy what I thought would be my last week with Medium. We found a place for him to go. We thought. Can you guess where this is heading? Well, I said my goodbyes on Wednesday. Because they were supposed to come get him on Thursday and that was a big laundry day for me, usually I stay home on those. But of course, once the laundry was done I just had to go to the playground anyway. To have another last goodbye. And then when I got there on Friday… Medium was still there. The deal fell through. As I understood it, the guy who had said he’d take him didn’t realise it required registration and obligations or.. whatever. He bailed on us. Per said he’d try to get Kurt to take him. I’m crossing my fingers. He can’t stay much longer and I just want him to get a good home.

Here’s to hoping. He’s a sweet, little troublemaker. Him and his sister have started jumping up on one of the roofs at the playground. There’s a bench placed on a bit of higher ground that they discovered could let them jump up on the roof. Where they could reach lots of yummy leaves that all the other, heavier, goats can’t get up to. Clever ones! It’s fun seeing them run around up there.

Let’s see.

On the rooftop. There’s video of it below too.

Mio and her (big) babies.

I really like this picture of Medium. Looking handsome!

He’s a big boy now.

Summery Kamel.

Summery Mia.

A look behind Large.

Looks like Medium isn’t too pleased at being used as a pillow!

Good boy.

I’ll miss him. But the most important thing is that he gets a good home.

A funny angle on Mia. With Palle photobombing in the background.

Darling ones.

And goatlogs.
First from Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. A ton of fun with the goat kids. Really jumping and butting heads and getting into allsorts of trouble.

And that’s all. Fingers crossed for next week bringing good news.

What a bunch of good-looking goatzies you have there in the playground. We’ll have to change the Christmas song “Up on the Rooftop” from “reindeer’s paws” to “goatzies paws”. Silly goats.

We’ve been work, work, working so much. But I finally made time to sit outside with the goats a couple of days ago. I was sitting on the elevated platform that my husband made for the goats.

Billy kept me busy with scratches and when I wasn’t scratching the right places, he pointed out the places he wanted scratched with his horns. What a smart boy! I think he was trying to teach me a new trick – point and scratch!

John Boy continued eating hay while Snickers rolled around on the ground and took a dust bath. Billy was content to have me all to himself even if there were a few cats he had to chase away.

Looks like rain today, so we won’t be working outside. Maybe it will give me a chance to straighten up the house and do a whole bunch of other things I’ve been putting off doing.

I donated blood yesterday. One more pint to donate in October, and I will have donated a total of 7 gallons of blood! Or in painting terms, 1 – 5 gallon bucket of paint and two singles. Hee, hee.

Debster – If you need any help painting a roof I’m sure they could lend a hoof!
Sounds like we both have good goat times. Nothing better than spending time with them. I’m sure they enjoy spending time with us as well! I’m not sure how much a paint and a gallon is, but it sounds like a lot of blood! You could probably make a good horror movie with all that! Although I’m sure yours is going to a better cause than that!
