Back To The Soup

Halloween. Tomatoes. Cold. Soup

Winter has come. Luckily so has mama’s soup. See more below.

Today will be a good day. Keep going, you’ll get there.

Good goat times today. Started off very dull and grey. But at least not too cold. I better enjoy that while it lasts. Looks like the freeze is coming in a couple of days. The mud is already here. It’s so bad that I didn’t even get a running greeting from Mia. She usually comes running to the fence when she sees me, but today she remained at the far end with the others and bleated after me until I jmade my way there. Parts of the pasture are so muddy that even the promise of treats won’t get the goaties to pass there. Even the yellow banquet on the floor of the dark forest is turning brown. But there’s still things to pick out, and I enjoy listening to the sound of goat hooves rustling through teh fallen leaves.
I took all three of them out of the pen today. It was kind of a failure. Not much to eat outside either. And everyone a bit on edgfe. A38 because she had to be close to the big bullies, and Mio and Mia are still nervous with the new surroundings when they’re out of the pen. Plus they don’t like the dark days either, I think. We did get a brief breakthrough of sunshine. Oh I miss summer. All my clothes are fashionaly muddy.
In better news, I managed to get fresh tomatoes at the supermarket today. After more than a week of not finding any. I thought tomato season had ended. Maybe there’s a little left of it still. Although I haven’t tasted these ones yet, so I don’t know if they’re any good. It won’t be long before I’ll mainly be buying tomatoes for the goats. I don’t tihnk I’ll be wanting to eat the imported ones. But I still want tomato time for the goaties.

Happy Halloween, Facebookerinos. If it’s true that spirits get to walk the Earth this day, then I hope I’ll be seeing some g-g-g-goats tonight.

Well I sure am glad that fireworks season has started already. *searches frantically for the sarcasm emoticon*

Also, I’d like to know why Facebook keeps showing me ads for “Become a prison guard”. I know Samuel L Jackson didn’t become a movies tar until after he was 40, but I think it’s a little late for me to get into the prison guard racket.

Good goat times today. Considerably brighter than yesterday. So much nicer than the grey darkness. Maybe that’s why I got a running greeting from Mia again. Up to the fence for a hello and a peanut. Even A38 bleating after me as I came walking. She was bleating after me when I left too. It’s always good to feel appreciated. And now we’re into November. It’s been a crazy year.

Here’s one of the feathery fouls. Not a great photo, but there was something about the colours that I liked. You can also see that my temporary fence fix is still up. The tire knitted into the mesh. I guess it’ll stand.

I spent 20 minutes sitting in the shower earlier, ranting in my head about the US election. And I’ll keep it there instead of writing it on Facebook. You’re welcome. I’ll just stand here until someone pins a medal on my shoulder.

Haruki Murakami was in Denmark and no one told me? THANKS A LOT, DENMARK. Where did I put that South Park clip…
Speaking of things I love coming to Denmark… it looks like Radiohead will be visiting in July. For a festival. A festival almost literally in my back yard. Probably walking distance from where I live. It’s 230 dollars though and I’m blind and phobic and there are human people at festivals. Seeing Radiohead live would be a dream come true. But … I haven’t gone to a live show in 10 years. I’ve never been to a festival. And have I mentioned there would be other humans there? So I’m not going to do it. But maybe I’ll keep my windows open and hope I can hear them from here.

This year for Halloween I dressed up as someone who fell asleep in his comfy chair at 10pm while watching The Walking Dead and slept through it all.

Heading to bed. A festival of dreams, all for me. See you when the fat goat bleats.

Oh I never told you what happened with the Japanese snack & candy box. Well. Maybe I should have gone for a strictly candy box. Because my tastebuds are very immature, I’m highly picky and there are things I just can’t stomach and I don’t really like spicy etc. So there was a bunch of things that weren’t really my kind of thing. And a lot of candy stuff was like one piece of wrapped candy and that’s it. It was a fun little adventure, but not really my sort of thing. Predictably. I think my favourite thing might have been the Kit Kats. On paper green tea Kit Kat doesn’t sound very appetizing to me. But it worked. For me. Also I enjoyed the whole “candy ninja” thing. Hii ya

I’m… I’m not. I’m not watching. It’s 3:19 am, I shouldn’t even be on the Facebox. I shouldn’t be tweeting goat photos at Moby in the desperate hope that Moby will know I’m alive. I shouldn’t be doing any of this.
At least tweets can be deleted in the morning. I’m not sure how to fix everything else. But hey. Goat bless your sports team.
(PS now Facebook wants me to add score. So. Score. There. I added score).

Good goat times today. The good news was that it was a sunny morning. The bad news was that temperatures dropped a notch. We’re now in the 5C/40F region, and that’s where my face literally hurts when I step outside. Sigh. Shirt, blouse and coat wasn’t enough today. Guess I’ll need to get the sweater out. Maybe even the thermal underwear. And the gloves too. I hate wearing gloves. Even with the handy mittens I have where I can free my fingers to use the camera, it’s still a hassle and it makes camera operation harder. I just want it to be spring. Can it be spring?
But the goats were good, of course. Sweet things, enjoying their tomatoes and bananas and assorted treats. Picking fallen leaves and some stuff that some visitors had thrown in for them. Not sure what it was, but it was good enough that Mia and Mio hardly could pull themselves away from it when I arrived in the morning.
I miss ‘running’ through the pasture with them. It goes slower now that they have to navigate through the worst of the mud.
We were out in the dark forest when I heard a horse coming. I haven’t been seeing much of the horses lately, as they’ve been spending most of the time in the other pen. But someone came riding by outside our pen. Turns out it wasn’t one of our horses at all. I guess there are other people taking advantages of the paths and forests and parks here to ride their horses. Only the horses stopped as it spotted our three little goats among the trees. And refused to go on. I could hear the girl on its back laughing and saying “don’t be silly, they aren’t going to hurt you”. Can you imagine our scaredy goats jumping the fence and attacking that poor defenseless horse? Apparently the horse could well imagine it and turned around and started galloping back the way it had come. The girl was still laughing so I don’t think the horse was panicking or anything. I think the horse just decided it wasn’t going to risk coming closer to the killer goats. It whinnied quite loudly as it ran away. Which scared the goats who all took flight and ran out in the pasture. Safely away from the fleeing horse. Oh silly goosey goats.

Make it rain. Silver dollars, wooden nickels. My money bin is full of chocolate dubloons. Open doors. The more I tighten my grip, the more you slip out of my hands. The more you erase me the more I appear. I have to write a long status or Facebook will increase the font size. The lesson here is the less you have to say the louder you have to say it. Keep shouting nothings so nobody can hear the important things. Little trolls in giant office buildings under the bridge where they draw blood. On and on and on and on and off and on and off and on and off and will they won’t they, where were you while we were getting highlights in our hair, cut it off cut it all off with her head now off with her head down to the promised land where milk and honey grow on the trees, you just have to milk the bees and be all you can be in the army of darkness, the army of lovers, in the arms of love and order, now for free shipping, one true pear. Let’s see how small a font Facebook will typeface this with. I forgot the punchline in the typeface, mama said knock it out.
Oh and goodnight, doves. Don’t cry when you fly the tears will be purple rain and the nurples will be hurting and there’s always a silver linno.

Big thank you to Deborah Ladd for the spoooky Halloween card! Super cute with Mio and baby Mia. Was that Esther with Santa earmuffs? And the 3D chewing goat haha. Thank you kindly! That was a nice thing to get up to.

Just changed from AdBlock Plus to uBlock. I’m a little sad that I won’t be seeing anymore prison guard ads. I’ll also have to rewrite my How I Met Your Mother reboot script. I can’t really start with “Well kids, it all started when your mom got caught stealing pizza and was sent to the prison where I was working as a prison guard..” anymore.

For those of you worrying that I’m slowly going crazy, I’d like to assure you that it’s all just fun and games and purposefully being weird on Facebook. So you can stop beaming those negative thoughts into my head via your surveillance satellites. You already know I don’t care about looking fashionable. I WILL go out wearing a tin foil hat if you make me. And all that bubble wrap I’ve been hoarding? Well, if you ever want to see a grown man wearing a suit of armour made of bubble wrap and tin foil, well just keep pushing me. Go on. I dare you. Make my day, Daft Punk.
Anyway, I should go exercise. Time to use the shrink ray on myself so I can run in the hamster wheel for an hour. I’ll just have to shrink the hamster first. I mean, I don’t want to have to fight a Lasse-sized hamster over who gets to use the hamster wheel. You know? That would be crazy.

Heading to bed. I meant to catch up on Facebook now, but I’m in the tired stage where it hurts to read the screen so I’m going to have to call it quits instead. Please accept this giant ornamental viking shield made of plastic with a complimentary Ikea brochure as appropriate sacrifice and rest assured that the responsible parties will play loud hip-hop to annoy the neighbours. Thank you for your patronage.

Today was a big day. I just came home from dinner with the family. Soup’s on! My old timey friends will know that my mother’s soup is one of my favourite eats. It’s not really anything fancy. Just old fashioned soup like yer mama made it. I love it with the potatoes and carrots and melboller (flour balls, mmm). So good. Last winter we didn’t get any soup because my parents couldn’t use their big pot anymore. I think because they had their stove changed.. or something. I forget what it was. But they couldn’t use their huge soup pot anymore. So it must be around a year and a half, if not more, since the last time I had soup. And as tradition says, my fridge is now stocked with leftovers. I’ll be eating soup for the next 3-4 days. The gift that keeps on giving. Mmm mm. Soup a doop!

Don’t keep us guessing, did your Mom get another soup pot or did she change stoves? I know you come from Viking stock, but I can’t see Mom cooking soup outside over an open flame.

Is “Viking stock” something like chicken stock or vegetable stock? Hee, hee. Put one large Viking in a pot, cover with water, add carrots, celery, and tomatoes. Bring to a boil, then simmer till tender.

No, no. Not flour balls – chicken and DUMPLINGS! Yum, yum.

So you and your posse of horse-eating goats were out terrorizing girls riding horses. . . again? You and your wild goat gang never learn. Tsk, tsk.

You were on a roll this week . . . right on down the hill and into the ditch.

  2. Plume Says:

Haha yes, ma got a new pot. And no vikings were harmed during the soup making or eating. I like hot showers when it’s this cold, but I’m not sure I’d like a boiling pot bath! Although if it was full of soup at least I could eat while bathing.

  3. Debster Says:

Does your Mom know her soup has such an international fan base? We need a picture of Mom and the soup pot!
