Family health update.
So, my mother went back to the hospital on Friday. She came back home the same day, but there’s clearly still a problem. I think she will be having some kind of heart surgery before too long.
My dad has an appointment for an x-ray scan in a week. He will also be getting another injection. That was the fix that worked great that first time, but hasn’t worked at all this time. So they’re giving him another one. I hope it will work this time. But I’m glad he’s getting scanned too. I wouldn’t be surprised if there was some hip surgery in his future.
So that’s what’s up. Hoping for the best.

What is Lasse doing?
Lasse is playing Fish!
Fish! is a text adventure by Magnetic Scrolls. As you may recall, I loved text adventures when I was a kid. I distinctly rember the box. It was a collection of 3 games. Fish!, Corruption and Guild Of Thieves. For my Amiga.
Classic adventure games. You can play them on this website, I am sure you’re dying to play text adventures from the 80s. It’s done in html, which means I can manipulate the text sizes and such. I can sort of play them. A little at least. I loved text adventures. The potential of anything being possible. It’s like being a book, only you’re the hero! Modern society started its downfall when they started making graphic adventures. Next thing you know kids have internet on their phones and everything is going to hell. We should have stayed with text adventures and 56kbps modems. Amen.

Phew. I just spent a couple of hours updating my Windows install. Looks like I may have survived. Hooves crossed.
This is the first t’ve update Windows since I got this PC, a couple of years ago it must be now. I’m the kind of person who hates updating, because things always break and things always change and change is always bad. I don’t want my operating system to change. Just give me security updates. I don’t want my OS to change.
But of course, just like all the big websites, Windows has to change too. So they can keep a track on you and make sure they’re getting to fork your privacy and monetize everything they can.
I literally sat and watched the Windows installer count up from 0 to 100%. Too scared something would go wrong so I didn’t want to go and do something else while it worked. It took about an hour. Hey, I got no life! And at least I have a pretty fast PC. I have heard it can take 2-3 hours to do it. And that’s if nothing goes wrong…
I hate that first boot after an update. I’m so dependent on my computer. the thought of something malfunctioning is terrifying. Once you’ve seen your computer boot to a BSOD. Gasp.
I always hated change. But with my sight problems and anxiety and all that. I’m dependent on things working like they’re supposed to, and how I know they work. Adapting to change is hard when you can’t forking see shirt. And a lot of the time, most of the time, all of the time, change makes it worse for my needs. All the major websites have gotten harder to use for me over the last year’s time. And it won’t be long until I have to start fighting with the new facebox layout. Sigh.
But anyway. I’m glad that my computer still seems to work. Please don’t break please don’t break please don’t break.
Sorry, just had to get that all off my chest. Carry on.

Good goat times today. A bit of a chilly morning with scattered raindrops. Later on the sun came out and it was quite lovely, although it feels like fall. Not summer. Sigh.
The goats aren’t too happy when the greens I bring in the morning are all wet from the rain. But at least they dry out after a while in the sun. Before too long there won’t be any greens in the morning at all. Enjoy it while it lasts, kiddos.
Several groups of visitors came by and said hi to the goats. Oh and the kindergarten next door was having a dance party outside. Playing loud music including Informer by Snow and Baby Shark by., satan, I assume. But they did also play Bum Tiki Bum by Kaj & Andrea so I can’t be mad.

Hey heey! Look who’s baack! We got horses again. I was starting to wonder if we’d ever get the horses back or if they were just gona for good. I only saw two today, but with my eyesight you never know if the others were hiding in the shadows. Or maybe they’ll be arrivnig later. Or maybe we’ll just have two now.
In any case, nice to have them back. The visiting kids were happy to get to see horses again too.

Question: Was this photo taken 2 minutes BEFORE or AFTER Lasse swept the platform clean?
Answer:
.
.
Trick question. Time is a oonstruct devised by humans in order to process the inevitability of their own mortality. Everything is happening all at once, everything already has happened, is happening and will happen. There is no time, there is only poop.

I walked home from the goats today. Thought I would give it a try. I miss the walking back and forth. Mostly because that’s where I do most of my reading. Audiobooks. I know I could just make the time to read at home too but… It doesn’t happen. Too many distractions and things to do and worries and whatnot. So the walk to the goats have been my primary reading time. Which is why my reading time has plummeted. This year, with all the shirt going on with my health, my family’s health, the world’s health. I was goating less than normal for a while. And then my back got real back and I halfted my walks by taking the bus. A third of the way into September and I have only finished 5 books this year. That’s a pretty big drop from 24 books last year, even if I hopefully add a few books before the end of the year. That’s pretty sad. I love reading.
It was nice to walk home listening to my new Dennis Jürgensen book. And my back held up pretty well. It hurt, but not as bas after the bus trips started. On the lower end of the scale from before it got real bad. I’m not saying I’ll be able to stop taking the bus. But if I take the bus TO the goats and then when going home I can see how I’m feeling, maybe I can do a bit more walking little by little. I seriously need execise, and I’d love to get more reading. Hey, it’s something. Hopefully.
If you can’t be bothered reading all that please download the audio version narrated by Gilbert Gottfried.

Great. Updating windows has broken something in my video editing stuff. Just edited some goat video and it wouldn’t save. This is why I hate updating stuff. Something always has to get worse or break. Now I have to spend time trying to get things back to how they were. Change always sucks.
Send pizza.

Looks like I fixed the video editing problem. Hooves crossed. Just had to redo a bunch of settings.
I don’t understand why updating your Windows resets settings and undoes registry fixes and stuff. I set these settings because I wanted them that way. I edited the registry because I wanted the changes. Updating your settings should not revert user changes. This is why it’s so horrible that Windows now has to have major updates twice a year. Unlike the old times when you had to BUY A NEW VERSION when you wanted a new version. Now you’re forced to have a new version. Twice a year. Forking dumb.
I’m really glad that I kept a record of all my changes. When I bought this computer and started setting stuff up I literally created a txt file and wrote down everything I did. So i’d have a record of everything, in case I had to reinstall windows. Or in case of Microsoft being ash holes. Which they were.
I remembered having to tinker with settings and programs and registry to get my video editing working properly when I got this new pc. So I went back to my txt file and looked at tha changes I’d done then. And sure enough, microsoft reversed those changes when I updated windows. So it was pretty simple to redo that stuff. Now I just hope it’ll work ok.
And here’s a picture of Mia. I wish I could get my windows from MiaSoft.

Good goat times today. Another decent fall day. When the sun is out it’s quite lovely. Very windy though. Goat beards flapping in the wind.
We had a bunch of sweet visitors today. A big crowd lining up at the fence. And kids bringing greens for the goats. That’s the way to do it! No poop power activation fun. There was one kid who thought it was hilarious to shout ‘GROVÆDER GED’ at the goats. Grovæder translates to.. overeater? Basically calling the goats fatties. I say I say! The goats would have had a thing or two to say about that, if tehy hadn’t been so busy eating.
Also an addition to the list of things that the goats are just irrationally afraid of: My tripod.
At least the newbied are. I’d pick up the tripod to move it and especially Sassy would look at it and quickly move as far away as possible. Funny because she’s supposed to be the big strong wannabe boss. But a littly flimsy tripod was enough to make her forget about that.

This year for trick or treating I’m going as a mask denier. Easiest costume ever because I don’t have to wear a mask.
Did you know in Denmark kids go trick or treating for money, not treats? At least we did when I was a kid, I don’t even know if kids still do that thing.

Danish football season started today. For the first time ever I subscribed to a streaming service, because they took away some of the games from our tv package…
After the first half of the first game my team was down 0-2. What a damn waste of money.
..and then we ended up winning 3-2 with a goal 5 minutes into extra time. See, I told you it was worth it! Don’t tell me soccer is boring, American friends!
Okay, I promise not to talk about smorts anymore until this godforsaken shirtdump of a year is over.
(Not including Ted Lasso, I will still talk about Ted Lasso. Ted Lasso is great.)
