Good goat times today. After all the major events last week it was nice to have a pretty quiet day with the goats. Nowhere else I’d rather be. The only thing out of the ordinary was Jeanette bringing a pile of branches from her place. A kind of willow branches, I forget the exact name. She’d had her son up in the trees to trim them apparently. And the goats certainly enjoyed the willowy wisps. Yum yum. We also had company from new feathered friends. I can’t remember if I ever mentioned it but I think it was a couple of weeks ago that Jeanette and Malene went out to pick up some more hens. I hadn’t actually seen them until today. When I arrived today there was a flock of them in the goat house. I mean, 4-5 I think. They seemed to like it in the goat house, they kept coming back in there. I’m not sure the goats were too thrilled with all that feathery activity but oh well. They had the willow branches to distract them. Good c luck.

Here are the goats at work on the willow branches. And in the background you can make out Jeanette who started work on sculpting the goatberry hill to make it more goat accessible. I’m not sure it will be really ready for goat fun until spring, with hopefully grass and firmer ground. But we’ll see. Oh yes, and Jeanette asked about facebook today. We’ve talked about it a few times, I think she likes how many people are enjoying the goats, and our trip to the newbs too. I thought she didn’t have fb, but turns out she does. So I gave her the address to Mia’s page. It’s nice that she’ll be able to see the goat posts there. We’ll see if we become fb friends at some point too, it sounds like she’s not quite certain of how it all works. Oh and also I feel like I should mention that she is married and has a 20 year old son. I know we like to kid around, but I just want to make sure you all know that even though I go on and on about her it’s only because she’s been so amazing for the goats, and for me too really. There’s nothing romantic, it’s just that she’s totes awesome. I mean just look at this picture. The goats eating willow branches she brought from her home while she works on making the hill good for them. So great. I’ll admit I may have had a slight crush on Ophelia at the old place though.. .BUT DONT TELL ANYONE. SHut up.

Here are some of the new feathery fowls. I’m not sure how well you can see them. Their colours kinda blend in with the background a lot for me.
But you can see they are standing on a pavement tile? That thing somehow ended up in the big mountain of dirty and soil that was moved into the goat pen. Jeanette had mentioned it before and today I happened to spot it and decided to carry it up to the goat house. When Jeanette saw it she went ‘oh you carried it up here? Cool!’. And then she got a shovel and dug a little hplacement hole for it. So now we got one tile. I still hope we’ll get more, it’s good for the goat hooves and makes it more likely they want to come out when the ground is wet. One is a beginning!

In about 4 hours from now one of my favourite Danish bands, Baal, are going onstage in my neighbourhood. They are playing literally minutes from where I live. If I had found out about it sooner mayhaps I could have done lots of research and preparation and maybe psyched myself up to go. It would have been a dream come true, I have loved them since the 90s. Honestly, I didn’t even know they are touring. Their leadsinger went solo, has a new record out soon. I didn’t know they were still alive and kicking. Sigh. Realistically I could not have gone. My phobias and blindness, I just can’t do it. Being in a crowd of people is my own brand of
nightmare. But dang, it sucks.
It is one of the great sadnesses of my life, I guess. I have always loved live music. Recordings. Those of you who knew me back in the old days might remember. The Smashing Pumpkins live scene. I almost got sued by the Danish record association for running an mp3 site. Once on napster (remember that) someone asked me if I was Billy Corgan because I had so many live recordings. Haha. It was all I listened to, live shows. Perfect soundboards or crappy audience recordings. I wanted it all. But in all my life I have only gone to a handful of concerts, featuring my old classmate Tina Dickow. That was before the blindness and wanting to see her was enough to get me to overcome all the fears. I’m still in my Bowie journey reight now and some of my faves are the live albums and bootlegs. Music has always been one of the most important things in my life, and it pains me that there are so many bands I’ll never get to see live. And I have no doubt Baal put on a great show. One of the greatest Danish live acts, the promos say. Of course they’d say that. But I wish I could find out. They are doing a tour of ‘unusual’ venues away from the usual big cities and such. Which is why they are in my crummy neighbourhood. There will probably never be another chance like this. Oh well. Dya think I can get Radiohead to come play in the goat pen? Up on goatberry hill, what a sight it would be.

The baal thing sent me on a spiral through Danish music on youtube. I don’t know how ugly things like humans came up with noises as beautiful as music. We should just all stop talking and sing instead. Imagine political leaders having to sing their promises? You would hear all the false notes a mile away.

Good goat times today. The goating was good, but the weather was not. Our mild fall weather is over. Today it was 5C/40F. But the wind. The wind was harsh. And I mean harsh. When I went to leave the house in the morning I couldn’t open the door at first. The wind was so hard that my normal push of the door just wasn’t enough. I have never experienced that before. I had to put some real power into it to get the door open.
And I almost lost my hat. I made sure to tighten the velcro strap before heading out. But after the goating, and when walking home from the supermarket shopping, suddenly the cap was blown straight off my head. And I was outside on the second level above the street. Luckily it got stuck in the fence. There were lots of gaps in that fence and if my hat had gone through one then it would have flown down on the streets below and honestly I don’t think I would have been able to find it. I almost lost my rebel alliance hat! But thankfully, I didn’t.
And the goats didn’t seem to mind the wind much. As long as it’s not raining, they’re fine. We spent a good deal of time scavenging for fallen leaves. And Jeanette brought some fallen branches. She told me that she thought she’d seen me on the internet! Haha. I don’t know if she’s been to Mia’s page yet after I gave her the url, she didn’t mention anything about that. But she said she thought she might have seen me in a video on facebook. I know some of you have seen the video, and posted it to me. It’s the compilation video of animals asking for help, or something like that. One of the first clips is me bending down to let a baby goat up on my back to reach leaves above. I forget which goat it was, maybe baby Mia or Palle. I have had a few of my clips used in compilation videos that have gotten millions of views. Funny thought. And funny that Jeanette was just randombly watching a video on facebook and went “hey isn’t that Lasse?!”. Haha. Fame, it’s a burden I have to bear. That and baby goats. But I’m DEFINITELY not going to let Sky climb up on my back to reach leaves on the trees next summer, right? Right. I have no idea why I have a bad back…
Anyway, I hope the wind passes soon. Pass that wind. I brought out winter coat and blouse and my favourite sweater, the one my mom knitted for me what 30 years ago or something. Still my favourite.
