Reach For the Stars

Yay. Tonight is daylight saving time. THE GOOD ONE. Not the evil one, not the one that makes you want to grow super powers so you can slow down the rotation of the earth and make the nights longer. Tonight we sleep like kings. Tonight we sleep for an extra hour.

At least we do in Denmark.

And sleep I do good, apparently. I took a nap yesterday (yes, yes, I know, I’m trying to stop) and when I got up my mother was all like “didn’t you hear me calling for you?” totally. Apparently she had been banging on my door and shouting my name but I just slept right through it. That’s good sleeping.

She was trying to wake me because Jannie’s mother, Grethe, came down to ask if I could take her shift at the playground today. I called her back later to say that I could, of course. That makes it four Saturdays in a row that I have worked. I should ask if I couldn’t just get Saturday permanently, instead of every other. Then Jannie could do Sundays. Everybody would be happy.

Yesterday I talked to the doctor at the clinic. Told her that I had been depressed again and that the new meds weren’t really helping. She said it was too soon to be sure, so we agreed that I’d wait another couple of weeks. If I’m not feeling better by then, then we’ll up the dosage. So we’ll see how that goes.

My jaw is still hurting. Three weeks now. Guess I oughta go see my doctor about that. I hope it’s not a wisdom tooth thingie. That would make your jaw hurt, right? I know I’m a very, very wise person, but I’d still rather avoid that.

May I show you my favourite bunny?

snowflake

That is Snefnug. “Snowflake”. Purdie. I love snow, so obviously she is perfect. Is she albino? All white with red eyes. Sounds albino to me.

Okay, strictly speaking she is my second-favourite bunny. My favourite is Æsel. Donkey. The grand ole bunny who is allowed to roam around on his own. He is cool. There are two bunny places at the playground. There’s the bunny house full of cages. And then in with the goats and sheepies there is a room with bunnies and chickens. When I open the playground on weekends Æsel is usually in there. When I open the door I’ll hear a thud. That’s Æsel jumping over the fence. Then he’ll hop out in the sunshine and go into the bunny house and see his mates in there. Sometimes he’ll stay outside on his own too. So I have to make sure that he’s inside when I close.

I love how they all have their own quirks and personalities.

Here is a Magnethe quirk:

reaching

She likes to reeeeach out for treats. Even when she is so far away from me that there is no way that she can actually reach the treat. She will still stick out her neck and reeeeeach forward. And it just looks so adorable. She especially does it when I’m giving treats to Mads. Because she knows that she can’t just walk over to me then. Mads would just push her away. So she’s stays in her spot and reeeeeaches her head forward.

reaching

I must try to get a picture that shows it a little better. It is so cute.

reaching

She wants the treat so baaad. It oftens works for her too, because I can’t help but laugh and then go over and give her the treat. How can you resist a face like that?

vanilje

Also Vanilje.

That’s all for today. I’m going to go enjoy my extra hour of night. Toodles.

Snowflake needs some dark sunglasses like Will Smith in “Men in Black”. “Bunnies In Black” could be a possibility. Little bunnies in sunglasses fight to rid the world of aliens. Coming to a theater near you.

Hooray for an extra hour of sleep! I have not been sleeping well lately. Have had dreams about bats (the flying mammals, not the baseball kind) and being interrogated by the police. My husband says I talk in my sleep, kick, and thrash around in bed. No wonder I’m tired in the morning. Several times I have jumped out of bed and landed on the floor. That will wake a person up!

I usually don’t remember many of my dreams when I wake up, but I did remember the jumping out and landing on the floor part. Maybe I wil dream of sweet-faced goats and white bunnies tonight.

Mmm, bunnies. I don’t normally like albino bunnies because they’re often big, hulking things that bring to mind experiments gone wrong, but that one is a cutie-patootie. Maybe if I finish up a good portion of my test, GM will take me to go pet soft things at the pet store. It’s not as nice as a farm, but it will have to do.

Wisdom teeth aren’t so bad, but if you have one growing in funny and messing up your other, more important teeth, it would probably hurt and need some dentist attention. Good luck with that. And finally, thank you for the help with the Dijksterhuis name. You were right, he is Dutch, but your approximation was a million times better than anything my class could come up with.

Deb – Hehe. Bunnies In Black. They oughta make spinoff like that.
Hmm. I wonder what the world would be like if Batman had been a guy with a baseball bat who went around and hit people. I hope you’ll have some nice dreams soon. I wonder if two people have a lucid dream at the same time, will they be able to meet in the dream? That would be a neat trick.

Lindsay – I don’t remember seeing any other albino bunnies. I am glad Snowflake isn’t a giant hulking monstrous thing though.
Maybe I should set up a pet store. Although I’d probably go out of business because I couldn’t bare to sell any of the pets. Oh dear.
Happy to help with the dutch. As we say in Denmark, rødgrød med fløde.
