Back That Database Up

Mmm. Warm soup and cold cola. That goes well together. For a freak like me. Especially on a cold day like today. Positively winter today.

I have added a new and final page of Oblivion screenshots. here. It contains spoilers for the end of the game. But also some fun stuff, like drunk goblins.

I just spent the better part of an hour cleaning up my wordpress system. Removing spam. I went to make a backup of my database and found the comments section to be over 100mb big. Geepers. WordPress has a function where you can flag messages as spam. I figured that when you did that the messages would be deleted. They don’t show up on your blog. But it turns out the comments are still stored in the database. So I had about 100,000 spam comments stored away. Took ages to delete.

Also found a few messages that had been wrongly tagged as spam. A couple from Anne. Don’t know if you’re still reading, but I remember that you said your computer had some problems with the blog. Maybe it was just the spam filter after all.

Also found one from Debbie. From the beginning of the year. Must have been one of the first you left. It was quite personal. I wasn’t sure whether to bring it up now, but I just wanted to say that I appreciate your support and friendship, and I’m sorry I didn’t get to see that comment before now. Some day I’ll find my way to New Mexico.

But for now I’m going to find my way to bed. Tomorrow is another week.

I believe I know which message you are talking about and if you ever want to email me about it please do – I will talk to you about it. I know it probably wasn’t the most appropriate thing to post in your LJ but I just had to tell you. (Now we got them all wondering what the hell we are talking about …huh???) Tee hee!
