Had a bad dream last night. Made me feel bad about myself. I feel like it has been following me around all day. Stupid dream, go away. I don’t even remember what it was about. But the feeling still persists.
At the playground, the goats were inside. Kurt told me that they had been getting frisky with the visiting kids. Especially Magnethe. He thought maybe she was getting in heat again. In any case they had been a bit too rowdy, so they were put inside. “If you think you can control them, you can take them outside again”. Hah, control goats? You don’t control goats. You just try to control the chaos that surrounds them. Anyway, I took them outside and they behaved quite well. One of the adults that was visiting with the kids came over and told me so as well. Said that I seemed to be a calming influence on them. Heh. She asked me if I was a goat whisperer. And I totally am. Or I want to be anyway. There are dog whisperers and horse whisperers and even ghost whisperers. So I want to be a goat whisperer.
Soon after that the kids all left and the playground became quiet. The goats layed down and enjoyed the sunshine. All three of them. Idyllic.
Seeing all three of them lying down like that reminded me of a picture I took a couple of days ago. Another panorama pic, of all three goats on the slope. I deleted it, thought it was too similar to the Magnethe panorama picture. But now thinking about it, I quitle liked how they were standing there on the slope. Their colours. They have such nice, distinct colours. Like three delicious flavours of icecream. Vanilje is vanilla of course. Magnethe is chocolate. And Mads… what is Mads? He is the secret ingredient I guess. I tried taking another picture of them all three together. But do you have any idea how difficult it is to get three goats to stand still for a photograph? Especially if you want to take it at a distance. Because even if you do get them lined up fairly well then inevitably at least one of them will follow you as you start walking away to take the picture.
So that picture doesn’t really illustrate the icecream flavour feeling of their colours. But at least all three of them are in it.
Vanilje with bouncy-girl. She had a loaf of bread and was breaking pieces of it and giving them to the goats. She was planning to give most of the bread to the horses though. But Mads hassled her until she dropped the bread, and then he started munching on it. Tsk tsk Mads. You bad boy. Kurt came to the rescue and got the bread away from him. Mads is a little too big to tackle for a little girl, no matter how much she bounces around.
And Magnethe. In my happy place.
Tomorrow the two new piglets should arrive. That’ll be interesting. Oink oink, I say.

Dear Danish Goat Whisperer:
After seeing this, I may change my mind about toads. Maybe you’ve got a good reason not to like them, Luis Lemmings! Don’t vacation in Australia!

Are those real braids on bouncy-girl or are they just attached to her hat?
I hate dreams that make you feel bad all day. I’ve had them, too. The other night my husband said I was laughing loudly at something. Of course I was asleep and have no idea what was so funny. Now why can’t that be the kind of dream to remember and make you feel good all day?
We got to meet 2 La Mancha goats today and 1 dairy goat mixed breed. The La Mancha’s have little teeny tiny ears. These goats were all three neutered males and were raised as “bottle babies” so they are very, very friendly – even to strangers. And they like dogs! One dog stuck his nose through the fence and was licking the goat!

I saw that toad as big as a dog on the tv. I don’t think I would want something like that in my yard.
I’d be happy with Moominlizard, goats, my two turtles, and that dog that lives up the street that likes to sleep on my driveway.

“You don’t control goats. You just try to control the chaos that surrounds them.”
This is the best quote I’ve seen this week :)

Debster – Wow, that’s a big toad. Do you know Hypno-Toad? I love Hypno-Toad.
Those are real braids yes. She’s quite the little raggamuffin.
Goats with tiny ears? They must have somehow found a way to defy goat-logic.
There was a dog encounter at the playground today. I was sitting and watching the goats graze. On the grass, below the slope. The slope sort of goes around the grass field and comes down to the playground. And a couple was walking there with a dog. I was watching the goats peacefully munching grass. And then suddenly Mads spotted the dog and he sneezed loudly and all three goats came running back to me where they proceeded to stare at the dog until it was gone. I don’t think Mads would let a dog lick him. Not at all.
Luis Lemmings – We should make our own zoo. Only the animals should be able to come and go as they please. So more of a hangout place than a zoo really.
Stu – I was rather pleased with it myself :)

No, I’m not familiar with Hypno-Toad. Who is he? I can’t quite see Mads letting a dog get too close to him, and certainly not within licking distance!
Luis Lemmings: Turtles? You have turtles? I saw a turtle today sunning himself on a fallen tree branch near a little pond. First one I’ve seen this spring. Also saw colorful male wood ducks in the same area yesterday.
Stu: Our dear danish goat boy is chock full of quotes.

Yes, two water turtles that I keep in an glass fish tank. One is a boy and one is a girl who’s much bigger. I think they’re called “red sliders” but I’m not sure.
I know it sounds odd, but I keep them in my living room with the tv on so that they could watch tv. During the day, I have them out in the sun so that they could sun themselves. And every afternoon, I change their tank water so that they could have nice fresh water.
Turtles just love to sun themselves, and it’s good for their shells. Plus, they need the nutrients that only the sun could give them. Just like humans and our need for the sun to help us manufacture vitamin D.
I would love to make our own zoo!! And anyone who loves animals can come for a visit.
Wow! All three goats ran to you. That’s amazing. So that means they feel very safe with you.
I love the photo of the little piggies. I call my two turtles ‘my piggies’ because they like to eat a lot.

Debster – Hypno Toad: http://youtube.com/watch?v=z86zW8z8hsc. And http://youtube.com/watch?v=5u_wav2N1mE. Although it might be a little confusing if you’re not a Futurama fan.
I wonder if Mads would let a toad come close? I know that Vanilje for sure would let a pigeon come close, you’ll see in a blog-coming-soon.
Luis Lemmings – I love that you leave the tv on for the turtles! That’s awesome. When I was a kid I wanted turtles. Back then I was scared of bigger animals. You know like those dangerous cats and dogs. And don’t even get me started on goats. Turtles seemed more handleable.
Twas sweet when the goats ran to me. Mads ran straight to me, and then he turned around and stared at the dog till it was gone. And Magnethe stood next to Mads. And Vanilje next to Magnethe. We sort of formed our own little defensive line against the dog.
