I’m Still Alive
Last night I thought I was going to die.
… Okay, maybe I’m being a little dramatic. A LITTLE. DRAMATIC. My left side sorta went all tingly. You know, like when you sit on your foot and it “falls asleep”. My entire left side sort of felt like that. I wondered if maybe I was having a stroke or something. Actually I can still feel it a little. And I have felt it before, recently. Just smaller. A little in the foot or the hand. Last night it felt like the entire side of the body. I started getting paranoid, thinking that maybe half of my brain would not get blood or the left part of my heart would stop beating. Hey, I never graduated med school. In fact I didn’t even go to the first lesson. Mainly because I didn’t enroll.
Anyway. My left hand is still tingling a little. And actually the left side of my neck a bit. Hmm. Maybe I should go to the doctor. One of them proper ones that graduated and all. I imagine I’ve had a nerve squeezed somehow and that’s causing it. Probably. Or maybe it’s just a very, very, very slow stroke. You never know. No, I’m fine really.
To prove that I’m still alive and producing stupid things, here is a video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=LeGJHtZqpbw. I made a little video for the song You Know Better from Tina Dickow’s new album. In case you would like to hear it, which I think you should, because she is my hero and so on. It’s a very avant-garde video with a lot of artistry and symbolism, and if you don’t “get it” then it’s probably because you’re not as smart as me. I am, for the record, smarter than the average Plume. Ahem. Yes. Okay, maybe it’s just usual goofing off and not very smart at all. You be the judge! There’s a lot of stuff out of focus, that was a conscious choice. Made by my camera, I think it’s broken. Or maybe it was just the dim lights in the appartment. I’ll test it out tomorrow in the daylight with the goats. Anyway. If you watch the video then you can see the goofball in the mirror and the lazyplume in the comfy chair. And then at some point I run out of goofootage and the video switches to live footage of Tina, from her last concert in Århus. So it’s all good fun. If you have the time, listen to the song a couple of times. Real music must have time to breathe and find it’s way to your heart. If you just want songs that you can sing along to after one listen then you can go to Top of the Pops, or whatever it’s called these days. Tina’s music is real music. Like good old-fashioned American pie. Only Danish.
Oh by the way, when you’re watching the video, have a look at the Youtube related video list and you’ll see a bunch of videos by someone called “dicodenmark”. I think I might know that guy. I think I might know that guy really well. I mean, REALLY well. If you want to hear more Tina music then go check his profile. Maybe you can even recognise him from somwhere..
In other news, I have started reading up a little on the subject of kittens. Reading the Danish cat newsgroup. Seems the initial vet thing is a bit more expensive than I thought. But it’s money well spent. I can’t wait to get my little kitty. I need to find a good vet too. One not too far away from here. There’s a petstore in City Vest, the big shopping center around the corner. So that’s handy. I imagine I can get most of what I need there. Maybe they can even give advice about vets in the neighbourhood. I am still somewhat intimidated by it all. The vet, getting the right food, potty training, vaccinations, scratching boards. But I know I shouldn’t worry about all that, it’ll be fine. As far as I can tell people in general seem to be able to have cats, so why not me? I’m sure little Luna Frodo will make me happy.
Plume 2.0: Happy Plume.
PS. I love this one, although it’s in Danish.

Gosh, hope you’re feeling better. If it happens again, I would definitely go to the doctor/emergency room. Especially if you have any trouble talking or one side of your face is drooping, etc.
I liked your video and the Tina Dicow song. And “I am smarter than the average bear, Boo Boo.” (Yogi Bear and Boo Boo – cartoon characters always after the pic-i-nic basket.)
Kurt could give you some info on what they feed Nina, the name of their vet, etc. He’d be easy to talk too, because “He is SO NICE”. Most kitties will instinctively use the litter box. You feed the kitty and after he/she is done, you put them in the litter box. Little animals eat then usually have to go to the bathroom right away. Be sure to praise kitty when she does her job in the litter box! Same with when kitty drinks water, into the litter box she goes. Soon she will be going there on her own.
Dry food and water is usually good to start with as moist food can sometimes cause the runs and makes kitty’s breathe smell not so good. Dry food cleans their teeth when they eat it. The bag will say how much food to put out for kitty and she can eat/drink when she feels like it.
At first, give her food/water, then take her to the litter box. After she can find the litter box on her own, you can leave food/water out for her all the time. Don’t overfeed kitty as it is bad for a cat to be overweight just like people.
Don’t worry about the “right toys”. She will play with the silliest cheapest things anyway. She will let you know what she likes to play with and then you can get her something special.
You’ll do fine with Luna Frodo.

I know this may sound odd. But when I was up in LA over the summer, I sang to my friend’s kats.
One song I sang to them everyday was “Suddenly” by Olivia Newton John and Cliff Richard.
It seemed to make them happy and they came to expect it. I know it sounds completely idiotic. But I enjoy singing to animals. I even sing to my little two turtles.
I guess I take after my mother who used to sing a lot around the house when I was a tiny tot. I didn’t have many friends growing up but we did have lots of animals around.
Along with Debster’s excellent advice, sing to Luna Frodo. Singing makes you feel good, makes the kat feel good, and allows the positive vibes to be all around you.

Sorry it’s been so long without an update on your favourite feline. We’ve been without the Internet for some time now. Infuriating.
Anyways, Luna is doing fine. My mum’s on a bit of a crash course herself to learn how to take care of the litter;)
I’ve uploaded another little film for you – http://s138.photobucket.com/albums/q280/Vicunja/kittens/?action=view¤t=curiouskittens.flv – you’ll be amazed to see how much they kittens have grown. They’re trouble now! Good thing Jens got them in the box – otherwise they’d be falling out of their house now, though they still make a fair go of getting out of the box. They play with eachother now as well. Play fight and play bite. They are soooooo cute!
Adam’s advertised Ginger and the Twins at his work, hoping someone will want them. I’ll hang a little poster at our local shop, that seems to be the done thing.
Today we’re signing the sales agreement for the new house…
You do know the Fraggles are back on telly, don’t you? On a Thursday morning on DR1 “Morgenhaar.”

NOOOO – the vidoe hasn’t uploaded – well, only a few seconds of it! Why is that??? I’ll try again!
September 11th, 2007 at 11:31
Hey, what happened with the other really long message I just posted before the NOOO post?? What’s going on here?
September 11th, 2007 at 11:33
A quick summary then:

I think that’s the full lenght video. I’m uploading a few more photos as well. Same place.
I can tell you Raven was NOT impressed when I took Luna out to show her. She definitely didn’t want to touch her. Bless;)

Desiree: Cute video. The kittens are growing fast. They won’t stay in the box for very long. Time to get out and explore the world.
LuisLemmings: Now I would have thought you’d sing “Good Morning, Good Morning” from Singing in the Rain (Debbie Reynolds & Gene Kelly) to the kats. Mmmmm . . . what would one sing to the goats?
September 11th, 2007 at 19:56
I love that song, too. I’ve forgotten the words, but I used to sing that, too.
I guess that’s why my friends tell me to stop singing in the car or “One more word out of you and I’m driving us both off a cliff!!”
**sigh**

Debster – I’m feeling better. Although still a little tingling in the left hand sometimes. Odd. But nothing to worry about I’m sure.
Good idea about asking Kurt about vet advice. I’ll try that out probably. And I’m sure all the kitty stuff will go well. I have big books to read now too, that will make me feel more secure.
I don’t know what I’d sing to the goats. MAybe “he’s got the whole world in his hand” to Mads.
LuisLemmings – That sounds sweet. Maybe I will sing Luna to Luna Frodo. The chorus is pretty easy, it basically goes “I’m in love with you” on and on. I don’t think there’s anything silly about singing to animals. I just hope I won’t scare her away, my voice is not appropriate for (kitty) children.
Desiree – Thank you Desiree! Sorry one of your posts got swallowed by the spam-eating protection device. I reinstated it. And thank you so much for the video and pictures. They make me happy, and ache for little lovely Luna. They are so lovely, all of them. But especially Luna ;) I hope the best for the brothers.
Congrats on the house. I hope it’ll be a long and happy life you’ll have there. Maybe some Fraggles in the back yard. I did not know they were back on telly. Must check that out for sure!
