Life Through A New Lens

Guess what I got today?

I got my brand new camera. Oh it is sweet. And I have updated the camera page. Accordingly. There’s a couple of pictures of the new camera down by the bottom. One of them featuring Technokitty and friends.

Funnily enough my (now) old camera seems to be focusing properly again. Hah. Figures. I guess I could have saved the money for the new one. But no, I knew I wanted the faboulous Olympus SP-550UZ mega-camera of doom. And now I have it. The zoom is brill, of course. And the test shots I have done seem very satisfactory. I doubt you all, dear readers, will notice much of a difference in the quality of my pictures. But for me it is a fun, new toy. And with 18x zoom I can finally get some shots of those gazelles that run around in my neighbourhood.

(I might have made that up).

I have some goat pictures, perhaps the last ones ever taken with the old camera. So enjoy them while they last.

madsbuck

Mads and the buck. Mads is standing his ground more now. He doesn’t run away. He still baahs nervously when the buck gets near. But he’ll butt horns and not back off. Bravely brave sir Mads! Maybe it’s because the buck is a little calmer too. He’s not grunting and snorting so much. Maybe he has done “his business”. Let’s hope for good results!

While Mads sat down in the sun there, Magnethe came and joined me on the bench. And for once she jumped all the way up, instead of just getting up with her front legs on the bench. She was standing next to me, and I think she wanted treats. At least that’s the impression I got when she started pushing her head against me.

magnethe

I know I shouldn’t encourage that kind of behaviour. But I just find it so funny when she butts me in the side. I’m odd.

Then I took a hold of her head in a wrestling kinda move.

magnethe

I expected her to try to get free but instead she just stood there and let me hold her like that. Maybe because I was stroking her face. It’s not much of a wrestling match when you don’t try to get free, Magnethe!

vaniljemads

Vanilje joined Mads in the sun. That’s not uncommon. To find Mads and Vanilje sitting close together. I know I’m “humanizing” it, but I like to think that Vanilje looks up to Mads a little. Like a strong, older brother. Or a father. He pushes her around a bit and acts the tough, but she still likes him. Yes. A little weird I am maybe.

What else has happened? My ex-new-best-friend-maybe came by and picked up his two WoW games. I still have his phone number, if I should ever get a credit card. “Cause you’re missing out”. Too bad.

I have started work on the update of TMU’s website. And quickly hit a bump in the road. Their menu is done in javascript. Not only do I loathe javascript and have it turned off in my browser, but it’s also a lot more complicated than just copy/pasting text. I hope I can fidget something out. I have enlisted the aid of Kat, the most gorgeous webdesigner this side of the Mississippi. Javascript isn’t her strong side either though, she isn’t sure she can help me. But we’ll see. I’m sure something can be worked out. I have already “spent” half the promised reward. And am planning to spend the other half on a memory card for my new camera. So yeah, I better work something out!

I had dinner with the parents tonight. Chicken, mmm. Unfortunately the potatoes hadn’t boiled long enough. And my mother does not like my beard. Grumble. But life goes on. My dad has been helping me clean the toilet. So it’s spotless now. Spotless. There are so many things that I am still learning.

Finally, here is a song for the road: http://youtube.com/watch?v=_C1UqHWGibk. Bittersweet memories on the dancefloor.

I’ll be able to sleep tonight knowing you have a clean toilet. We have hard water here and it’s tough to get the water stains out of the toilet. I was going to tell you we had an outhouse outside, but figured after the “going to the river to wash clothes on a rock” story, you wouldn’t fall for the outhouse!

Either you have a Mississippi River in Denmark or Kat lives in the States! The water lilies are blooming on the river now and the pelicans are starting to gather together to migrate later on. Saw the two hummingbirds again today at work. There is a possible frost warning here for tonight, so I covered up some of our flowers with blankets.

I hope the frost gets some of the ragweed. I have been sneezing something awful lately. Has been an allergy pill week what with the farmers cutting hay and picking the corn fields and just regular lawn mowing. I can’t breathe!

PS: Send us a picture of those gazelles you have running around the neighborhood.

    PLUME’S SQUIRREL A LA RONDE:

    3 pounds squirrel, pieced
    1/4 cup olive oil
    1/2 teaspoon crushed black pepper
    1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
    1/2 teaspoon sugar
    1/4 teaspoon paprika
    1/4 teaspoon prepared mustard
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/4 teaspoon celery salt
    1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

Season squirrel with salt and pepper. Heat olive oil and brown squirrel. Remove squirrel, drain skillet. In a mixing bowl combine all remaining ingredients, mix well. Place squirrel back in skillet, add mixture, stir to mix. Cover and simmer for about 45 minutes, serve. Serve with mashed potatoes or french fries, fresh salad, and hot bisquits.

Debster – I am better than sleeping pills! I mean.. Hmm, that’s not really a compliment. Hehe. Hard water? Is that why people scream when they take showers? I thought it was because the water was cold, but maybe it’s just too hard!
Kat does live in the states, last I checked. I’m not sure which side of the ‘sipee though.
I will try to catch the gazelles for ya. Usually they just stick their tongues out at me and run away before I can take a picture. They’re fast!

Clare – I told you already on msn, I’m not gonna tell you again!

LuisLemmings – To quote John Cleese “I mean, I don’t eat squirrels do I!?”. Have you been taking Danish lessons, Luis? That was quite a fairy tale. One of Hans Christian Andersen’s? Or did the lizard blossom into a swan and tell it? Those names make me dizzy.

  6. Debster Says:

Oh, no! We don’t eat our nutters (squirrels). They are our friends. Before I knew they were our friends, I ate squirrel and rabbit, deer and duck, and doves and elk. I just eat chicken, beef, pork, lamb, and turkey now.

LuisLemmings: Is that the story of the “Ugly Duckling” turning into the beautiful swan? I saw four Trumpeter swans the other day.

  7. Plume Says:

Debster – It’s a good thing goats don’t eat humans, or we’d be extinct by now!
And no, it wasn’t the uckly duckly that Luis did. Twas for more complicated than that!
