Delux Mansion In The Sky
I had a decent day today. Much needed. The last couple of days had been full of headaches and sleeping and a general desire to not leave the house. But today I didn’t have a choice. I had to go feed the animals. So that was good. To get out and to see them sweet critters.
Like Nina, stretching in the sunshine.
I like talking to Nina. Meowing back and forth. My catspeak is getting better.
When I opened up the goat house I saw…
Mads in his own booth. My first thought was “ooh there must be goat babies”. But if there is a lesson we have all learnt by now then surely it is… that there are no goat babies.
Just a couple of girls poking their heads up.
And Magnethe with a big belly. She was swinging her head around when I took the picture, that’s why one of her ears is sticking out oddly like that. Floppy goat ears rule.
Maybe we should start a pool. See who can predict what day it will happen. Since Mads is in his own booth it must mean they think it’s very close, that there’s a good chance it’ll happen during the weekend. We’ll see. Sooner or later, right?
Some boys were running around while I fed the animals. One of them was the kid I “rescued from drowning” as I like to call it. They were asking questions but not getting too much in the way. So that was nice.
Tomorrow I’m getting out as well. Having dinner with the parents. And also tomorrow is the start of the Danish football season. Or soccer, as you crazy yanks would call it. My beloved Brøndby back on the telly. I shall look forward to that and hope that the result will not shatter my mood.
A big thank you to the Debster. I got your card! With your beautiful goats. Extremely lovely. Thank you! I can’t hardly believe that I turn 30 next Saturday. It seems odd. I do not feel 30. But on the other hand I am now living on my own and retired, so I guess I can’t claim to be a complete kid anymore.
If you would like to be as cool as Debbie then you can send me a card too. My address can be found here. Doesn’t have to be anything fancy. Just a postcard with a “you old git” scribbled on it, that’d be just fine. Mail makes me feel less alone in the universe.
I should also like to point your attention to this lj entry from Laura. I get a little jealous when I see Debster and Laura’s goats. Not because “my” goats don’t measure up. But because I have to put quotation marks around “my”. I would like to be able to just say my goats. I wish I could take them out for a hike like that, too. I wonder if they would be so well-behaved! There’ isn’t any great, wideopen nature right here, though. And it probably wouldn’t be a good idea to take them out walking on the road, with all the cars. I wish I had a farm, or just a house with a big yard. And my goats staying there. Yes. That would be wonderful. So if you’re a crazy millionaire and you want to get me something for my 30th, then you know what. One (possibly haunted) mansion with space for goats. And if you have money left over then maybe space for Jessica Alba too.
Alritey then.
Hope ya’lls enjoying your weekends. See you on the flipside.
PS. If you happen to catch the TV show New Amsterdam then you might like to know that the lead role is played by a Danish guy. I heard that the show was cancelled, but apparently it’s being broadcast now. I haven’t watched it myself, yet. But I’m going to have to check it out to see how Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is doing. We don’t get many Danes in the big biz like that. Viggo is half Danish. And Jessica Alba has some Danish blood. But straight Danes are rare (that’s not a gay joke, by the way). Mads Mikkelsen was in a Bond movie I think. So you know.. we got THAT going for us.
PPS. Hey look what my DVD recorder did. We got her going for us too. Damn sync problems though.

Hay, hay. Glad you got the card. I never know if the mailman is going to be late, so I’ve been sending your cards way early. The post office usually says 7 to 10 days, but looks like you’re getting them sooner.
Where are those goat babies? Vanilje must have gotten pregnant the month before Magnethe or maybe her kid came too early and that was the problem.
Laura’s pictures/blog was cute. Our goatzies wander off a little ways then look up to see where we are. Guess they want to make sure the “herd” stays together!
We went to the store today for groceries. We’re having maidrite sandwiches, cottage cheese, and angel food cake with mixed berries and Cool Whip topping. The sandwiches are cooked ground pork with seasonings and tomato sauce and simmered in the skillet and then put on a nice wheat bun. (Also called a “Sloppy Joe” or “loose meat sandwich”)
Plume, my husband asked what else you fixed to eat with the ham? Don’t know if he is checking up on your nutritional habits or if it was something good, maybe he was planning on coming over for a meal before the ham was all eaten up!!

Debster – I don’t mind getting the cards early! I should thank the mailman for being quicker than the Americans expect. Maybe I’ll leave some cookies out for him.
Yes, it’s odd that Vanilje was so much quicker. Maybe it takes longer when there are triplets? Or maybe Magnethe was just better at resisting the buck’s charms. Anyway, as long as they are safe and sound then I’ll happily wait..
That sounds like some quality sandwiches. My version of a sandwich? Two pieces of toast bread, some butter and a slice of simple. KISS, Keep It Simple, Stupid? I think that’s a webdesign rule actually, but I guess I use it in cooking too hehe. I did for them ham at least. I meant to cook potatoes to go with it.. but I ended up just eating the ham with bread and nothing else. I hope your husband isn’t too disappointed. I really cooked the ham mainly for the leftovers. Is that an odd thing to do? Cook something just to get the leftovers. Heh. I’m afraid the ham is almost gone now. But I can always cook up another if he wants to come around. Tell him to bring bread!

He wants to know what kind of potatoes you were going to fix? And do you want wheat or white bread?
He also likes dessert (nuts and raisins won’t do).

Debster – How many kinds of potatoes are there? Just regular ones…boiled.. thats it! And the bread should be “rugbrød” which I have heard is a special Danish thing apparently. Opposite of white bread.
Desserts? How about.. Potatoes with powdered sugar on top? Okay, okay. I’ll work on the desserts.

Mashed potatoes, french fries, oven-baked, fried potatoes, twice-baked, baked potatoes in the microwave ….
Desserts: pies, cakes, cookies, brownies, tarts, cobblers, puddings, Jello with whipped topping . . .
You need a cookbook, my dear danish goat boy!

Debster – I think I need TWO cookbooks!
