Dude, Where’s My Sugar
Today I managed to get out of bed in the morning. Quite amazing, do you not agree? And I braved the bitter cold to go see the goats.
But first I stopped by my parents’ house to help with some electronic issues. And they gave me a couple of presents that they had brought home from Greenland. A cute little seal plushie that is actually a pencil case I think, but since I don’t have pencils I’ll just imagine that it’s a little baby seal living in the windowsill. And then a handsome T-shirt that says GREENLAND and has a nice arctic picture on it. Quite nice. Also my mother gave me a couple of desert cookboocks. Of the diabetes kind. I’m going to have a look through them and see if there’s anything I’d like her to bake for me. Isn’t she nice? She’s going to make pebernødder. Do they have those in English, Desirée? Peppernuts. Yes.
Then it was onwards to the playground, where I said hi to Sigrid the fair and then went to the goat pen where Magnethe was anxiously awaiting treats. She quickly learned that my glove wasn’t a treat though.
And the buck.
It was my first time in the pen with him. He was very calm and sweet. He came up to me slowly and sniffed at me and I proceeded to scratch him behind the ears and rub him all over. He likes the scratchies and the rubsies that’s for sure.
I like him already. He still hasn’t got a name, though.
I thought Magnethe had left her wildness behind, when I came in at first she didn’t act up. But then a little later on when I got up from the bench she did come at me a bit. I had left the squirt bottle on the bench because I thought I was safe. Oh dear. But it wasn’t too bad. She took some swings at the buck too.
I think she’d like to stay in charge. But the buck is at the top of the pecking order, no doubt.
Most of the time she is a sweetheart, and I love nothing more than just sitting there and stroking the back of her head and scratching her neck. It’s peaceful bliss.
But let us not forget Vanilje.
The picture doesn’t really show it, but she was looking a bit bigger I think. Maybe it’s just because her winter coat is coming and the fur is thicker. Or maybe she’s with kid. I’m hoping for kids at the end of the year. But maybe the buck has been brought in because they don’t think the girls are pregnant after all? I don’t know. He could just be there for company too. Or to keep Magnethe in check. The more the merrier anyway.
That’s about all for today. Appointment at the hospital tomorrow. My blood sugar has been perfectly fine, so hopefully we’ll just keep going with the pills and no rurprises.
And happy thanksgiving if I don’t see you before then. Thank you all for being there.

Is Sigrid the fair photogenic? A Sigrid picture would be nice to see as well as the darling goatzies and sheeps.
As Desiree says, it’s nice to have a crush on someone. Besides, it’s great practice for you to socialize a bit, talk about the goats, the weather, and the upcoming holidays.
It’s good to hear that you are out and about and enjoying yourself.
One thing though. Are you sure Mom didn’t give you the cookbooks to look thru so “you” could bake something????
I’d make you bake me something yummy to eat! It could even have nuts and raisins in it.

Debster – I think she is very photogenic. But of course working up the courage to take a picture of her is another matter entirely. Maybe some time she’ll be close to the goats and I can discretely let my camera’s eye wander.
My mother specifically asked me to find something that she could bake, so yes I’m sure. I’m not much of a baker. I’m afraid if I baked you something you’d end up in the hospital, and we wouldn’t want that!
