It Pours

(google cache)

I made it to the playground today. Barely. I very nearly stepped right out in front of a bicyclist. As I was crossing the road. I was listening tor cars and couldn’t hear any. Couldn’t see anything in the sunshine. Thinking to myself “should I go now? Should I go now? Should I go now?”. And then a bike came out of the fog. I couldn’t see it until it was right next to me practically. So good thing I didn’t step out on the road 10 seconds earlier. I made it across and got on the bus and got to the playground.

Where I got some bad news I’m afraid. Vanilje’s boys have left. Yes. It is a little heartbreaking. They were so much fun and brought me so much happiness. And I was really hoping that we would get to keep at least one of them. But that was not to be. I’m not sure where they have gone, most likely to the eco-garden or another playground. Or maybe back to Kurt’s place. He said they had been causing too much trouble. I find that hard to imagine, especially after they got back inside their pen. How much trouble could they have been behind a fence? But then I always loved their trouble so. They were real firecrackers, that’s for sure. Maybe if I had been around more often I could have helped raise them better so they could have staid. I don’t know. But in any case I will miss them. A lot.

I still had a good time with the sisters, though. Vanilje and Magnethe. They are also beautiful and wonderful, and a little bit firecrackery when they get in the mood. It was nice to just sit on the bench in the glaring sunshine and relax with them. It’s officially a heatwave in Denmark. It’s perfect weather to just lounge around like a lazy goat.

There were more bad news, though. Not done yet. The piglets have left as well. I didn’t spend a lot of time with them, but it was always fun to see them digging around in the mud. With their millions of spots. They were getting really, really big though. I don’t think there was room for them anymore. Gertrude seemed relieved to have a little space to herself again.

But there were more news, and sad news at that. Sussi the lamb has died. She had a heatstroke, apparently. I think it happened on Monday, but she lived for another couple of days. So that is very sad. She was a sweet little lamb, running around with her brother Leo usually. What a shame.

But I am not going to let any of this depress me. Because I am positive. positive Plume. Everything will be okay.l

Poor Sussi. The playground must seem empty with all the piglets and the goat boys gone. I’d heard it has been warmer than usual in Europe. We’ve had some cooler weather this past week, thank goodness.

Another 4th of July has come and gone. It was rainy in the morning, then was nice enough to enjoy the parade, then started misting again in the evening. We were out and about last night, so we saw some fireworks from various towns. Very pretty!

I’m so sorry to hear the news about Sussi! Poor little sweetheart! But then, it has been unbearably hot. The playground dynamic must be constantly changing with the animals coming and going like that. I know it’s hard to say farewell, but there will be new arrivals soon to get to know.

I had actually been wondering about the getting around with such limited eyesight. Have you been offered some aids and courses in how to manage life as partially sighted?

Oh, and I’m back from Germany. It was ace and now I miss it all so much. It’ll be another THREE years before the next production. That’s AGES!

I made it all the way to Denmark, before I managed to get a stamp for the card Raven and I wrote for you back in Husum the first day. So, no exciting German stamps for your collection. Just a Danish bird one.

Sending you hugs and thoughts and more hugs.

Debster – Yes, poor girl. lambs are always so sweet and silly. It’s not nice to think of them suffering.
It’s a lot more quiet now at the playground, with no little ones around. It’s very different sitting just with Vanilje and Magnethe. But they are still lovely and good company.
Happy belated 4th of July!

Desiree – It’s been very, very got indeed. Glad it’s cooling down now. Imagine having to wear a big wool coat all the time in this heat. Poor little thing.
Getting around is difficult now yes. I have been managing okay mainly because I don’t go that many places. Apart from the hospitals and doctors then it’s really only Føtex in City Vest, my parents, and the playground. I can get to Føtex without crossing the road so if I take my time then I should still be able to do that. Not so sure about the others now. But my dad is always willing to come help me.
I haven’t been offered any aids yet. I imagine it’ll come after the surgeries. It’s still uncertain how much I’ll be able to see of course.
Congrats on the succesful German tour. I’m sure you’re all superstars by now. You should be. Don’t worry about the stamps. My dad is the stamp collector, I’m more interested in the cards!
