Something In June
I have gotten my reply back from the hospital. New date for the eye surgery is… June 10th. So I have to wait more than a month. I’m not happy about that, but I guess it was to be expected. I will just have to get back to waiting.
And I do hate waiting. A lot.
But time flies. We’ll get there.
Meanwhile, I am almost back to being better. Still a little coughing and snotty, but feeling okay. So at least I got that going for me.
Let us enjoy another video from the playground. youtube.com/watch?v=3vMzKhtE2U0. General fun at the playground. Magnethe’s babies did a fair bit of baahing, that was nice to hear. When they are first born and start exploring new surroundings they usually baah a lot, but then they get used to the world and then they don’t talk so much. There’s no sound as sweet as goats baahing, so it was good to hear them again.
I forgot a little story yesterday from the playground visit. About the bus driver. He was very nice. And I had the same bus driver on my way out and my way back home. That doesn’t happen too often. But he was a very nice guy. First of all he stopped the bus so I could enter through the door at the front of the bus. Normally people have to enter at the back. Or if it’s one of the newer, big busses then in the middle. But it’s customary for the busses to stop so people with mobility or eyesight problems can get in at the front. Not all bus drivers do that, though. But this one did. And then, on my way to the playground, he asked me where I was going. The audio system that let’s you know what the next stop is was not functioning. So he wanted to make sure that I got off at the right stop. Nice of him.
Then on my way home I got on the bus and was greeted by a “oh hello again!”. Same driver. Now, just like it’s customary for busses to stop for handicapped people to get in at the front, it’s also customary that people sitting in the first seat at the front move away to make room for the handicapped person to sit in that seat. The woman sitting in that seat didn’t move when I came in. No big deal, since my legs are fine and I wasn’t going far. So I just moved to the standing place behind that seat. Then the bus driver said “young lady, could you let him have that seat?” and the woman moved away so I could sit there. So that was very nice too. I thanked him as I left the bus and he wished me a happy day. Put a smile on my face.
Usually when I get on the bus, if I have to get on at the middle or I get in at the front and the first person doesn’t move, then I just go to the nearest standing position and stand there. Whether it’s the most convenient for me and others or not. I just can’t start walking around in the bus, looking for seats. When I get into the darkness inside the bus after having been outside in the sun, I just can’t see much. I can’t see if there are empty seats ahead. I can’t really see if I’m going to walk into people. So I just find a standing position as quickly as I can. And it usually works out just fine.
That’s all for now. I have had to change the charset for my website because of problems with Danish character symbols. Please let me know if any of the text is not showing up correctly. Thank you.

Gosh, I’d have trouble navigating getting on/off the bus at the right place all the time. The only buses I’ve ever been on much have been school buses. And they knew where you lived and where you were going . . . to school!
What a nice bus driver! It’s good to know people you don’t even know are looking out for you.
I’m glad you are starting to feel better. That cold I had knocked me down for a couple of days, but at least it didn’t linger on for weeks and weeks.
Those kind of colds where you’re feeling much better, but still have a cough and stuffiness for a long time afterwards really wear a person out.

Debster – Luckily the bus trip to the playground isn’t very long. It’s only 6-7 stops. So it’s not too hard.
I didn’t have to take a school bus when I was a kid. School was right around the corner practically. I don’t even know if we have school busses in Denmark. I know we have school taxis, my dad has talked about them.
I am still coughing a little at times, but I didn’t even need the nasal spray to sleep last night. So that’s good.
Peter Pan – Oh it’s a blast. You should try it some time.
