Ducks Off, Sorry

I do declare: mama’s chicken soup is still the best in the world. Mmm.

And it was chicken soup. I know I said it was going to be duck instead, but I guess I misunderstood my dad. He said he couldn’t get a hen. And for some reason I got it in my head that he got a duck instead. But no, he got a “hane”. A.. rooster? A male. So male chicken soup, I guess. I’m not a chef, don’t question me on the finer points. What matters is that it tasted swell. Although there was a little less of it than usual. So I probably won’t be able to bring home a giant pot of it, no. But I’m invited over for more soup tomorrow. And then we’ll see if there’s any left over for me to steal away. In any case, deeelicious. Makes it worth getting out of bed in the morning, it does.

We are under an ice storm warning for Monday night thru Tuesday night. Maybe up to an inch of ice, thunderstorms, wind, and some snow afterwards. So if I am curiously absent for a few days, we may be without power.

We do have a generator and supplies, so we should be okay if we do have lots of ice. (Unless a power line falls on the house or something, ha, ha).

Just wanted to let you know before all Hell breaks loose here in a few hours!

It sounds like you’re feeling much better, Plume. That’s good! Looking forward to something like chicken soup or the goats always makes things much better.

Also, I’ve been seeing that awful ice storm the tv, Debster. It looks very dangerous with everything encased in ice.

Do you have ice storms in Denmark, Plume?

  3. Desiree Says:

I really was hoping for that recipe, you know. Maybe it could be a Christmas present?

Thinking of you, Debster and hoping for the best!

  4. Debster Says:

*Walking in a winter wonderland* We have about 1/4 inch of ice on everything, but still have power. Hooray! It’s been freezing rain most of the day, so we’ll have some more ice build up before it’s all over. Now if we don’t get any high winds . . .

Hay, hay LuisLemmings and Desiree. Think warm thoughts and maybe some of this ice will melt off!

  5. Plume Says:

Debster – I’m glad you still ha ve power. Otherwise you’d probably have to snuggle up with the goats to keep warm. Or grow some wool yourself. Hmm, I wonder if you can grow wool.. if you plant it in the ground, I mean. That’d be a neat trick.
Viggo says hi. He came round for tee. You know Denmark is such a tiny country, everyone knows everyone!
(well not really. but I bet I had you going!)

LuisLemmings – Soup does wonders for my mood! I wonder if prozac is part of the recipe!
We do have ice storms, but rarely so strong that they’re dangerous in any way, as far as I can remember.

Desiree – Maybe I can make a copy in secret… I’m sure it’s just your basic normal chicken soup though. The secret ingredient is looooove.. and prozac, possibly.

  6. Debster Says:

Does the chicken eat the Prozac first or does your Mom add it to the soup after the chicken is in there?

  7. Plume Says:

Debster– That’s a good question. Silly, but good. Why did the chicken cross the road? So it could get to all the yummy prozac. MHm.
